As humans, we love to move. When the music comes on, no matter the genre, we find ways to start grooving.
It’s a feel good thing, right?

So what better way to uplift your spirits during a turbulent time than to DANCE?!

If you’ve read my previous blog posts, you’d know a few things about me so far. Obviously, I love to write. You can see I love talking to people and getting to know them. And, I also love helping people.

What you didn’t know was, in my younger days, I was a dancer.
I took dance for about 12 years, starting at the age of 3 years old. I’ve done ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop…you name it! I LOVED to dance. Everytime I performed, I owned my audience. This lasted for majority of my childhood and teenage life.

Unfortunately, real life started happening when I became an adult. I started having kids, I got married, and I lost one of my first loves. Dancing became uncomfortable to me more and more over time.

Did I gain too much weight? Nope
Did I have an injury that disabled me from dancing? Uh uh.
Well…what did happen?

I felt insecure.

I didn’t like my body enough anymore. I wasn’t as carefree and open with myself anymore. I hid behind pain, my family, and my memories.

Now, don’t get me wrong… the thought to just run out and buy some point shoes and a leotard crossed my mind a thousand times. I just couldn’t shake my, what seemed to be an everlasting, funk.

So now, as I am trying to find myself again, I thought it would be nice to just let go and move.

Ladies…when I tell you I felt sooo much better after having a 10 minute private session of just letting loose!!! And just for the record, I’m not talking about “twerking”.

Was it technical stuff? Nope
Did I look a hot mess? Absolutely! πŸ˜‚ LOL

But it didn’t matter! I just moved! I got secure enough with myself again to embrace my body and climb out of that shell I had been hiding in a bit more than the day before, as everyday equates to another step to finding ME!

That one body roll matched with snapping fingers and the music was all I needed to get back to myself. From there I just did whatever felt natural.

So, with all of that being said, I encourage each and every one of you to turn the music on, up, and just MOVE. I don’t care if you don’t have rhythem and I don’t care if anyone is watching. When you feel like you just want to release some negative energy and rid some pain…shake your romp and DANCE LIKE NO ONE IS WATCHING!

Comment below and tell me how your dance session turned out!

Peace & Love,
